It’s birthday month in our house. I believe every family has one. You know, the month when it seems like every uncle, brother, and cousin was born. As a child, I thought this was the best month, with never-ending candy from all the colorful piñatas. As a parent, well, I just wish my wife shared my son’s enthusiasm for Paw Patrol, so we could recycle some of those Marshall and Chase candles. But just as the month has gotten sweeter and sweeter with all the cake and treats, it has also gotten sweeter and sweeter as we have seen God work.
the many opportunities the Lord has provided to share our heart for missions and our burden for Peru. Along with sharing in churches, the Lord has also provided several opportunities to preach in Junior and Senior High Chapels. Many students have stayed back after services to tell me about how God was working in their hearts about foreign missions, and it has been so sweet to see how God is working in this younger generation. At the end of this month, I will also be teaching a week-long course to Bible College students who are training to be missionaries. I am so excited about this opportunity, and I would just ask that you be praying with me for this course.
This past month, we received the sweetest news of all. Miriam accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior! I don’t think I will ever cease to be amazed to see how God works in hearts and lives. A friend of ours in Peru was writing my wife to let her know that she had begun a Bible study with Miriam. Believing Miriam was not saved, she began with a very basic salvation presentation. At the end, when asked if she would like to place her faith in Jesus Christ, Miriam looked to our friend and said, “I did that. When Jacqulyn was here, and we had our group Bible study, she gave a lesson about salvation. I did not say anything then, but after the lesson was done, I walked up the stairs to my apartment, and I prayed just as she taught us in the lesson, and I got saved.” I do not believe there is any sweeter news to hear than that of someone placing their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. What a praise! Our God is so, so good. Please be praying with us for Miriam as she continues growing in her walk with God.
