may 2019 Prayer Letter

So Close but so Far

“It is only an inch. Maybe two, at best.” These are the words I told myself as I starred at a map, planning out two back-to-back meetings. Well, as my poor family and I soon learned, an inch or two on a map translates much differently in real life as we made one over-night trip from Arkansas to Virginia this past month. While my wife and I are now able to laugh about that one very long night, that night made me wonder about how much in life is so close yet so far.

As I mentioned in an email update a few weeks ago, we were able to meet a young lady named Jennifer while out door-knocking in North Carolina. During our time with her, we were able to present Jennifer with the Gospel and answer several of her questions about salvation. She was so eager to learn more, but yet, in the end, when presented with the opportunity to accept Christ, she said, “I’m just not ready . . .” So close. So far.

In the coming weeks of June, our home church will be hosting two separate weeks of teen camp. Since my wife and I both made some very important decisions at summer camps, these weeks are very close to our hearts. I would like to ask you to pray with us specifically for the weeks of June 17-21 and June 24-28.

We are asking that God work in the hearts of the teenagers that come, and for any that are un- saved, that these teens come to a saving knowledge of Christ, so that it may not be said of them, so close but so far.
