The Heart of the Matter
Where did all my time go? Have you ever found yourself wondering this at the end of a day? We can get so busy doing a whole lot of little things, which cause us to lose sight of the main picture.
As missionaries on deputation, we are not exempt from this either, which is why my wife and I have been praying specifically that God would help us to stay focused on the heart of the matter, sharing the Gospel. Last fall, my wife and I invited a young family to church, and while they visited once, they have not been back since.
Recently, however, the couple has reached back out to my wife and I and have agreed to come to our Thursday mid-week service with us. Please pray with us that this young family will not only hear the Gospel, but will make personal decisions to accept Christ as their Saviour. As many of you know, our second son, Ryan James, is due in September. However, after a recent ultrasound, the doctors have some concerns about his heart.
The imaging was not conclusive, since Ryan is apparently quite the wiggle-worm, so we will be having a follow-up ultrasound later this month. Our hearts are heavy, and as former medical professionals, not dwelling on all of the possibilities is hard, but it does not change the heart of the matter. The truth is, our God loves Ryan so much more than we do, and his little heart is and always will be in our loving God’s hands.
