Opportunities of  Influence

One finger space. That is the exact amount of space that belongs between one hanger from the next, no more, no less, or at least according to my wife. We all have things like that in our life though, don’t we? Things that might not have a logical basis, but we believe with conviction. We believe, because someone influenced us to do so. While a silly example, yes, the hangers really made me start to think and pray about the power of my own influence and the opportunities we have on a daily basis!

This past month, my wife and I were privileged to teach two different classes to young people. If I were to be completely transparent, when first presented with the opportunity, my flesh was not the most ecstatic about the possibility.

We had just gotten home for the first time in nearly a month, my wife was going into full nesting mode, and her to-do list was, well quite impressive to say the least. I realize as I am typing this, how silly that may sound, since here I was just a few days earlier praying that God would give us more opportunities, and now I was trying to give an excuse because I had gotten caught up in the busyness of life. However, God really started convicting me about the matter of influence and the opportunity He was giving me here. See,

it was during my own senior year of high-school that God used a visiting missionary in our school and church to re-direct my path for the Lord! So I was able to go into a high-school and challenge the students to not let fear stop them from being used by God, and my wife was able to teach a college-aged girls class on the Proverbs 31 Woman. Praise the Lord for opportunities of influence, and please pray with us that the seeds that were planted on these days would grow and bear fruit.
