November 2019 Prayer Letter

The Harvest

Some of you may know her. Most of you do not. In 1999, she was serving as an Awana teacher in Canoga Park, California. Her name is Kathryn Petri. Mrs. Petri loved to regale her class with tails of her life as a missionary in the heart of Africa.
As she talked, the love for this foreign land and the people in it, who so desperately needed to hear the Gospel, poured out, and a seed took root in one five-year-old girl’s heart, and a burden for missions was born. That little girl’s name was Jacqulyn.

With my own wife having surrendered to missions at a very early age, I take the opportunity of presenting to children’s classes very seriously. In fact, my wife and I have been praying since the beginning of deputation that we could be a “Mrs. Petri” in someone else’s life.

We were so excited this month when the Lord answered this prayer, not just once, but four times! One man and three children surrendered their lives to be missionaries to a foreign field! After being given the opportunity to speak with the children during a Mission’s Conference, three children bashfully came up to my wife and I, to tell us how God was working in their hearts. Again, after presenting our burden for the people of Peru during an international diner, a middle-aged man came and found me after the dinner and service.

He told me that God had been working in his heart when he was a teenager about being a missionary to Peru, but he had run from God’s calling in his life and had continued running for the past several years. However, after sitting there that night and hearing once again about the great need in Peru, he told me it was time to stop. It was time to stop running from God and to start running toward the harvest. What an amazing God we serve and what a privilege it is to be the vessel He uses for His work!
