August 2021 Prayer Letter

New Beginnings

My mom was one of those moms who had a slight obsession with labeling all of my school supplies. Even my number two pencils had a carefully placed label with my name. She used to say that it helped me not loose things. Looking back, I now believe she really meant that it would help whoever found my things know who to return them too. Either way, I used to love seeing all those tiny labels because it meant the dawn of a new school year and new beginnings. As I think back over this past month, I cannot help but recall those tiny labels, as we have so many stories of new beginnings, and we are praising God for all that He has done!

We are so excited to announce that Amor Baptist Church officially has a new home of their own! After outgrowing their rented house-church and after several other properties fell through, God led us to the perfect location for this church plant. Since the new property already has several rooms available to meet in, the church will be able to begin using the property immediately while they also build a larger space to better fit their growing congregation. Thank you so much for all your prayers and for the several churches who gave toward this project. We are so excited to see how God has used this church and will continue to use this church in their new building.
I would also like to thank each of you who had been praying for the seven interns who spent this last month in Peru. Our month was packed with door-to-door outreach, soccer evangelism events, and discipleship as we had the opportunity to help show these interns the ministry here in Peru. God really worked during this time, and at the end of the month, six of the interns felt God’s calling in their lives to be full-time missionaries. We are truly excited for them as they begin following God’s leading in their lives.

This past month, two more young men found their new beginning in Christ Jesus! Wilber was a contact I made from the hotel that the MMO team stayed at. After inviting him to church that entire week of the clinic and then staying in contact with him afterwards, Wilber finally agreed to come to church with me. That Sunday, Wilber accepted Christ as his Saviour! The second young man, David, came to know Christ through of one of our soccer evangelism events, which is essentially just me taking a few young men from the church down to the soccer fields where we work on building friendships with other young men as we play a game of soccer. Afterwards, we sit down and present a clear presentation of the Gospel. David had been showing interest in the Gospel for several weeks, but after this last soccer evangelism event, David accepted Christ as His Saviour as well! Please be praying with me for both of these young men as they begin their new lives as children of the most High.
