JUNE 2021 Prayer Letter
On the Move
Have you ever heard one of those whistles? I don’t mean one of those happy-go-lucky sounds. I mean one of those hair-raising, ear-splitting whistles. My dad had one. He said he learned it from a dog-trainer, but he mostly used it for us kids. See, when we heard that whistle, which trust me, you could hear it within a one-block radius, we as children knew that it meant that we were on the move. If one of us was not at the car quickly, well, you very well might be left behind. While the whistle might be absent here in Peru, we are definitely on the move.
Fernando has continued to remain faithful to church, and has even been showing up an hour early so that he can help in any way he can. He has also continued meeting with me for discipleship, and I am truly excited to see how God uses this young man as he continues to move forward with his relationship with the Lord.
As my fingers stroke the keyboard, typing out this letter, Peru is currently voting for the next president of the country. Many believe that regardless of the winner, riots will break out this coming week. We are also currently hosting the Medical Missions Outreach Team. The clinic started yesterday, and is supposed to continue through this coming week. This past month, we have spent multiple days passing out thousands of Gospel tracks and invitations to this clinic. As you can imagine, this is a huge opportunity to reach into community, so please be praying with us that hearts and lives would be changed for the glory of God and that these riots do not hinder us from moving forward with the clinic.
Another huge opportunity we have moving forward this month, is the chance to work with twelve interns from the States. These interns are primarily high-school students who have a desire to learn more about missions. They will be coming down to learn and train in the ministry of the veteran missionary we are working with, but they will also be spending quite a bit of time with us during the weeks.
These types of opportunities are very near to our hearts, as God used a similar trip to work in me and my wife’s own teenage hearts. So please be praying with us for these twelve students, that God works in their lives and uses them moving forward to help get the Gospel to the world.
Praises
- Fernando has continued to be faithful and has made some exciting steps in his walk with the Lord.
Prayer Requests
- Please be praying for the medical clinic this week, and that the Lord would use this in mighty ways in our city.
- Please continue to praying that the Lord leads us to the
perfect piece of property for Amor Baptist Church.
