March 2020 Prayer Letter
JOY
“J-O-Y, down in my heart, deep, deep down in my heart.” As I sang this song with my two-year-old son, the reality of these words hit me. Joy. I have joy! I have joy because of my Saviour, and I am so undeserving to be able to serve Him with my life. While this past month my wife and I were blessed with an abundance of opportunities to speak in children’s churches, present in elementary classes, lead Bible studies, and for me to preach in elementary, junior-high, and high school chapels, there was one opportunity we were afforded that was especially sweet.
While the average person may not equate joy with an environment consisting of padded slippers, wheelchairs, and sugar-free pudding, I have learned differently. As I stood there looking at the lined faces of the many residents who had come out to the morning service being held there at the nursing home, I saw it. I saw the fruits of lives who had lived out I Corinthians 15:58. They had been steadfast. They had abounded in the work of the Lord, and, Oh, the joy they now knew. I pray that this too may be our testimony in Peru.
In the coming months of June and July, our home church will be hosting two separate weeks of teen camp at Sand Mountain Bible Camp. Since my wife and I both made some very important decisions at summer camps, these weeks are very close to our hearts. I would like to ask you to pray with us specifically for the weeks of June 8-12 and July 13-17. We are asking that God work in the hearts of the teenagers that come, and for any that are un-saved, that these teens come to a saving knowledge of Christ so that they too many know true joy.
Your Missionaries to Peru, Mitch, Jacqulyn, Landon, and Ryan McCormack
