Hand clasped in hand, we sat across from our Mission Board Directors just a few short months ago as we animatedly talked about our plans for the future. We talked about our vision for the Timothy Initiative Program moving forward and for the church, and just how excited we were for all that God was doing in Arequipa, Peru..
As we finished the conversation, one of the directors asked if we had any plans to have more children. My wife and I immediately shared one of those looks—you know, the kind where words become irrelevant. We wanted one more, but between everything going on in the church and all the complications that Jacqulyn had had with past pregnancies, well, now just was not the right time. So we turned and, with much confidence, responded, “Maybe in a few years, but we aren’t even thinking about it right now.” Of course, there was just one problem . . . Jacqulyn was already expecting; we just didn’t know it yet. So, with a smile spreading across my face as I type these words, I can confidently say that God’s ways are not always our ways, but they sure are so much better than anything we can imagine, and we are excited to meet one more member of the family, Alyssa Kate McCormack, come December.
With this little addition, our plans for this year have just become very fluid, so I would ask you to be praying with us for wisdom. Due to Jacqulyn’s complicated pregnancy history, she will be returning to the States as she enters the beginning of her third trimester at the end of August. However, in the midst of this, we are also having to renew our Peruvian residency once more, and during this process, she is not allowed to leave the country. So please be praying with us that this process will go smoothly
Before we knew about our plus one, we had actually taken the first steps in faith to begin a satellite Bible college, partnering with Missionary Jason Holt and the Chilean Bible Seminary. With so many of our young men graduating high school this December, we knew we needed to take the next step to help them follow God’s will for their lives. We began with a trial run of classes this past semester, both online with the Chilean Bible Seminary and in person, with myself and several of our pastors teaching classes. Now, we are in the process of completing the third floor of the church building, both classroom and dormitory space. It’s a lot going on. But I also know that He is worthy, and even if just one more pastor graduates Bible college as a result of this project, well, it will have been worth it.
