Penciled In

The August completion date for our church construction project turned into a large smudge on the calendar as I finished erasing. Yes, one of the kids had definitely been chewing on the tip of this eraser. “Oh well,” I thought to myself, “at least the date had been penciled in.” It is not utterly surprising that a construction project was not finished on time. Yet, despite this, I can’t help but be excited because things are moving forward! We have been able to move services back into the main floor of the auditorium, which now only lacks one major wall to be installed to create the separation for the nursery. The bathrooms are going in, and we have been so humbled and blessed by the generosity of God’s people who have brought this project to fruition.

While our building may not yet be what one would call aesthetically pleasing, we are not letting that slow us down with our services and events. We continue to do all we can to reach our community for Christ. This month, we have both a Couples Conference and our first-ever Women’s Conference! Church members have been excitedly writing down the names of friends and family to register them for these events, many of whom we have been praying for, hoping they would attend a service. Now, here they are finally agreeing to come to an event where they will hear the Gospel taught. I would just ask you to please pray with us that God would work mightily in these two events.

Between all the problems we’ve been having with our residency and the water being cut off again due to the construction, planning our next Baptismal service has had its challenges. However, we have finally been able to pencil in a date! Right now, we have ten more young adults and married couples who have recently accepted Christ as their Savior and are going through discipleship. In the Catholic culture here in Peru, unsaved family members often do not speak out against their loved ones’ decisions and newfound faith until it comes to baptism. So I would ask that you pray with us for these new believers and their next steps in their walk with God.

Your Missionaries to Peru,
Mitch, Jacqulyn, Landon, and Ryan McCormack
