September 2021 Prayer Letter

Laboring On

The tantalizing aroma of burgers on the grill, the greasy residue feel of Bullfrog sunscreen, and the cool shock after diving into an overly chlorinated pool. To my seven- year-old self, this was the definition of Labor Day. To be completely transparent, I am not entirely sure I equated Labor Day with work; to me, it was just the last official day of freedom before school. However, after spending our first official Labor Day here in Peru, I couldn’t help but think how fitting of a theme it was for this past month.

After finishing the month of July, we were so excited by all that the Lord was doing here, and we were energized to keep pressing on. And then, our entire family tested positive for Covid-19. Not quite what we were expecting for the month, but as always, the Lord protected our family, and everyone has completely recovered. After getting out of quarantine, it was definitely full steam ahead as we had some major time to make up for. Between helping prepare Amor Baptist Church for their first official service in their new property by canvassing the area, to being a part of a mission’s conference at El Faro Baptist Church and helping to canvas a new area farther north for a brand-new church plant, we found ourselves praising God for the ability and strength to be laboring on once again.

Near the end of the month, as we re-started the Bible studies at my house with the young men from the soccer fields, we had three more young men come study with us for the first time. The following Sunday, they all agreed to let me pick them up for church where they were able to hear yet another very clear presentation of the Gospel. We then spent the afternoon studying the Bible together and answering their questions. Please be in prayer with me, specifically for these three young men, that they would come to know Christ as their personal Saviour. I am truly in awe of all the Lord continues to accomplish here and count myself privileged to be laboring in His harvest here in Peru.
