August 2020 Prayer Letter

Standing in the Gap

“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none,” Ezekiel 22:30.
Pastor Luis Navarro stood in the gap. He worked tirelessly and faithfully for six years as the pastor of Hunter Baptist Church in Peru. He was forty-two. After being diagnosed with Covid-19, Pastor Navarro went home to be with the Lord this past Sunday. I would ask that you pray with us during this difficult time for Pastor Navarro’s family, specifically that they would know the comfort and peace that only Christ can bring after losing a husband and father.
While I do not believe for second that he would return to earth, even if he could, after experiencing the joy of being at the feet of his Saviour, I cannot help but wonder who is next? Who will stand in the void left behind? Who will stand in the gap?

Thank you for praying with us for more opportunities to see souls saved in our last few months on the deputation trail. It really is amazing that when you pray for opportunities to witness, well, I have yet to be disappointed. We are so grateful that while traveling this month, we were able to see another soul saved and connected to a local church.

Please pray with us as he begins discipleship. The world so desperately needs the Gospel, but we need more labourers like this man to rise up and stand in the gap.
We are so excited to formally invite you to join us via Facebook Live or Youtube (Vision Baptist Church, Alpharetta, Georgia) for my ordination service on November 5, 2020, at 7 PM EST. As I think about this date and what it means to be ordained, I am bombarded by a mixture of emotions. Excitement, of course, and gratefulness to all the men, my own present day heroes of the faith, who have stood in the gap before me and have invested and encouraged me to do the same. Most of all though, I am in awe. I am in awe that our God would want to use me to do the same for the people in Peru, to stand in the gap.
