February 2021 Prayer Letter

The ABC’s

Bounding up the stairs, my oldest was belting the ABC’s. He is currently in that toddler stage where he randomly breaks out into every known nursery song, while simultaneously trying to reach new personal highs on the decibel scale. As I listened to his boisterous voice occasionally hit the various notes of the song that Thursday morning, I could not help but think of how truly fitting the song was. I mean, is there anything more basic than the ABC’s? And yet, for the moment, that precisely describes our lives here in Peru, back to the basics.
From learning that stop signs no longer mean stop but rather, honk your horn, to learning that hearing Mozart’s “Rondo All Turca,” means the trash truck is coming, we have had a lot of basics to re-learn. However, we are super excited that at least one basic is completely behind us now, and that is our house. Thank you so much for praying with us about this need! The Lord provided just the right house, and we were able to get completely moved in and set up this past month, and we have already been able to start to use our house for outreach opportunities as well!
With the basic need of getting our house set-up checked off our list, we were officially able to start language school, another huge praise! From re-learning our ABC’s, to well, a whole new language, we have a long ways to go in language learning, but we know our God has called us to this, and our God is always faithful. Please be praying with us as we continue in language school. The Lord has already placed several young people in our lives, both saved and unsaved, and my wife and I know that to continue to grow our relationship with them, we must continue to learn the language.
One of the basics of church-planting is canvasing, and I am so grateful that this past month we have had several opportunities to canvass for a new church plant, Amor Baptist Church. We are so excited for what the Lord is doing and going to do in this area of the city! However, if you can be praying specifically for the city and country to stay open with no limitations, we would greatly appreciate it. Many of the restrictions
currently in place are very hard on a new church plant. However, we know our God is in control, and our job is pretty basic, to be faithful to what He has called us to do.
